Foodie Fave

Remember the french movie Amelie with Audrey Tatou? And the scenic Parisian areas near the canal?  Of course you do...well, last night I had the pleasure of dining at an amazing restaurant in that area - Quai de Jemappes.

Finally, an excuse to pry myself away from my desk - an old friend was visiting and dinner plans were in order.  I got the reco from a trusted foodie-friend:

No joke.  This is now my favorite restaurant in Paris.  Amazing food, amazing vibe, really cool servers, and fair prices.  The servers even put cute little star stickers on our faces...no idea why...just 'cuz...

The tuna dish

Scott still has his star on...

The next time you're in gay Paris, you have to hit this place up!!

salut!

PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR

For a few hours, we decided to take a break from the heavy MBA workload and check out a concert at La Cigale (120 bd. Rochechouart) in Paris.  When all you do is sit in class all day and then go home to work on assignments into the wee hours of the night, it's really liberating to go out with the mission to do nothing but have a good time.

I was absolutely blown away by Florence and the Machine (from London), I've been listening to them religiously for a few weeks now, but hearing them live was NEXT LEVEL.  Everyone should be listening to them on their iPods right now - they're amazing...have a listen:

Gypsy

Nostalgia is such a funny thing.

Whenever I hear the song "Gypsy" by Fleetwood Mac, or any other song of theirs for that matter, I get incredibly nostalgic and sentimental...you know, the kind that gives you far away, dreamy, teary eyes.

I was introduced to Fleetwood Mac during my 'faux' hippie days...first year university on the east coast then a summer of tree-planting (and tree-hugging) in Northern Ontario...it plays out like a 'coming-of-age' movie.

So, of course, I jumped at the chance to see Fleetwood Mac live in Paris.  I think we may have been the youngest people in the place and the concert wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped; Stevie's voice is not what it used to be...and sadly, they had backup singers to sing the high notes.  The thing is, in the end, it really didn't matter to me whether they were good or bad, just being there, listening to those songs that I had once played over and over was good enough for me.

Bonne Nuit!
