montmartre to marais

All I feel is pure exhaustion. Today was my first day of classes. It was great, but I truly forgot just how tiring meeting new classmates and teachers can be...I'm both excited and nervous to really get started - it's gonna be one hell of a year.

As promised in my last email, here are some pics from Diana's apartment in Montmartre and just some other ones I took between walking and biking on our way to the Marais. Enjoy.

Diana introduced me to sparkling water and almond syrup...so good! Apparently this is what the old people drink ;)

One of the most well known bookstores - remember it from Before Sunrise...or was it After Sunset...

This is one of the amazing lamps in the Bourg Tibourg hotel in the Marais. One of the coziest, most elaborately decorated hotels I've ever seen. I must have noticed at least 10 different beautiful patterns as I walked up to Jacques and Peter's room (family friends from Toronto)

Jacques and Peter: visiting in Paris from Toronto. They're headed off to the South of France and then to Lake Cuomo in Italy for a wedding...oh! the life!

Paris, at last

So, I'm here!

I arrived three days ago, but it feels like a lifetime!

I got to my dorms in Cergy (40 mins from Paris) unpacked and headed for Paris.

The images below are of the event I organized for my classmates at Pont des Arts (a pedestrian bridge close to the Louvre) - it was great to meet most of the people that i'll be spending the next year with - it turned out great...it was our own little cocktail party on a public bridge...only in Paris!

I spent last night and all of today with Diana, one of my favourite people, EVER!  She lives in Montmartre, works for a French fashion house and is one of the most stylish gals I know.  Without her, I'd be lost in Paris.

Stay tuned for images of Diana's amazing pad and a few shots I took while walking in Paris today.

Bisous

oh, hi there.

Hi. So this is where it all begins. The very first entry of my very first blog.

I have contemplated starting a blog for some time now, but could not find a good enough reason or big enough spark to get started.  So, I figure moving to Paris to do an MBA program in luxury brand management is the kick in the butt that I need.

I'll be spending the next 13 months in one of the most amazing and beautiful cities in the world...croissants, baguettes, smelly cheeses, macarons...yup, the French...they know how it's done. The purpose of this blog is to document little tidbits of my life in Paris while I live there "on a dime"...let's just say I'm not exactly going to be living the life of luxury - I have limited funds and will be experiencing as much as possible for as humanly little as possible.  I'll be a "loafer"(one that does not work) on the budget of a "penny" - oh! and I also have an obsession with penny loafers - I refuse to leave home without a pair.

I'm off to Paris in less than two days - stay tuned for my next entry...a la Paris!
